Sharon Williams named Chief Executive Officer
Public sector health care expert to lead Michigan plan
Okemos, Michigan, DATE, 2008 – CareSource has appointed Sharon Williams to the position of Chief Executive Officer for the company’s managed health care plan operating in Michigan.

Prior to joining CareSource, Williams served as vice president, Government Markets, for Amerigroup in Virginia. She brings more than 17 years experience in public sector health care including serving as vice president, Medicaid MCO Business Unit for Coventry Health Care in Detroit, vice president, Compliance/Regulatory Services at OmniCare Health Plan, director, Provider Services, for the Detroit Medical Center, and assistant director for the City of Detroit Head Start.
She has spent the majority of her career working in the Michigan market and her experience includes marketing strategy, sales, business development, government and public affairs, and managed care operations.
As CEO, Williams will be responsible for directing operations for the Michigan plan that serves nearly 50,000 Medicaid members throughout 38 counties. In addition, she will oversee CareSource’s new Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plan offered in Alpena, Genesee, Kalamazoo, Saginaw, St. Joseph and Van Buren counties.
Williams is an active community contributor, having served on the boards of America’s Health Insurance Plans’ Minority Management Development Program, Detroit Youth Foundation, City of Detroit Community Services Commission, and the Detroit Metro Youth Foundation.
Williams received a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Michigan State University. She and her family live in Detroit, Michigan.
