DAYTON, Ohio, June 16, 2008 – Community Choice Michigan has changed its name to CareSource. In 2007, CareSource, a leading nonprofit public-sector managed care company based in Dayton, Ohio, purchased Community Choice Michigan, located in Okemos, Michigan.
Community Choice Michigan was formed in 1995 by 17 Federally Qualified Health Centers. CareSource and Community Choice Michigan formed a successful partnership in August of 2003 when a management contract was put into place between the two companies. The purchase was the culmination of that successful relationship.
CareSource brings more than 19 years of Medicaid managed healthcare experience to Michigan consumers.
“Our success is testimony to the positive impact of managed care for the Medicaid population,” said Pamela Morris, President and CEO. “We are pleased to bring this extensive experience to Michigan consumers.”
CareSource is one of the largest and fastest growing Medicaid managed care companies in the nation, serving plans in Ohio and Michigan. In Michigan, CareSource currently serves more than 50,000 Medicaid members, and in Ohio, the plan serves more than 600,000 consumers. In early 2008, CareSource began serving dual eligibles in both Michigan and Ohio with a new Medicare Advantage Special Needs Health Plan.
