CareSource wins second United Way Pinnacle Award
DAYTON, Ohio, April 21, 2005 – CareSource, Ohio’s largest Medicaid managed care plan, has won the Pinnacle Award from the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area for a second straight year.
The Pinnacle Award is “the highest honor to be presented to organizations that best exemplify the vision of the United Way through their spirit, involvement and leadership during the campaign,” said Marc Levy, president of the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area. “Traditionally the Pinnacle Award is not granted to the same organization two years in a row.”
CareSource gave a total of $53,533 to the United Way in 2004, with $41,579 from the employee campaign, $10,500 from corporate gifts, and $1,444 from special events held July 23-30. As one of the United Way’s Pacesetter companies, CareSource held its campaign in July rather than October.
Of particular note among these fundraisers was the employee campaign, which almost doubled the amount given by employees in 2003. CareSource raised this amount by holding a series of companywide events, providing incentives to donate, and including employees from its offices in Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland, and Okemos, Mich.
“I am proud that CareSource was able to contribute so much to the United Way, one of our most important community agencies,” said President and CEO Pamela Morris. “My thanks and appreciation go to the wonderful employees who organized the events, and to employees across the company who donated.”
The Pinnacle Award is the most prestigious award the United Way of the Greater Dayton Area gives to donor organizations each year. CareSource will receive its award at the United Way’s annual Awards Recognition Luncheon, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, April 22, at the David C. Ponitz Center at Sinclair Community College in Dayton.
