2005 Press Releases

CareSource reaches 100,000 members in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 30, 2005 – CareSource, a nonprofit health care plan that serves Medicaid consumers in Indiana, has grown to more than 100,000 members in less than one year. The plan, which contracts with the Indiana Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning, began operations in the state in January 2005.

CareSource attributes its explosive growth in Indiana to its commitment to customer service for both members and providers. The health plan covers all state-required services and offers extra benefits such as a 24-hour nurse hotline, transportation to doctor’s appointments, and case management for members with asthma.

Doctors and hospitals say they have found working with CareSource to be easy and hassle-free.  “CareSource is a managed care organization that cares for each provider as if they are their only provider,” said Christina Woodring, Medicaid lead specialist at Welborn Clinic in Evansville. “CareSource delivers what is promised, accurately and timely. It’s a wonderful organization to work with.”

Participating providers include primary medical providers, provider groups, specialists, hospitals and pharmacies in cities across the state including Indianapolis, Bloomington, Evansville, Fort Wayne, Richmond and South Bend.

“CareSource’s overarching value is to serve and satisfy the customer,” said Theodore W. Dixon III, executive director of CareSource Indiana. “Word of our commitment to customer service is getting out, and many potential members and providers have been calling us to find out more.”
