CareSource contracts with 2003 Practice of the Year
Medicaid HMO began serving Indiana in January
DAYTON, Ohio, Jan. 13, 2005 – CareSource has contracted with Physicians Practice magazine’s 2003 Practice of the Year, Southern Indiana Pediatrics (SIP), to provide sole health care coverage for its Hoosier Healthwise patients.
“We are excited about the partnership and look forward to a long-term relationship with Southern Indiana Pediatrics,” said Theodore Dixon, executive director of CareSource in Indiana. “SIP provides exceptional quality, access and compassion to patients, enhancing our joint mission to make a difference in the lives of underserved people by improving their health care.”
SIP, with locations in Bloomington and Bedford, Ind., treats about 100,000 patients per year, including many recipients of Hoosier Healthwise. “Our practice is 36 percent Medicaid, so doing things correctly is absolutely critical for us,” said Sandy DeWeese, chief operating officer of SIP. “We conducted an extensive comparison between companies. It came down to the company that had a similar corporate culture to ours. We didn’t choose the best offer; we chose the best fit.”
