Dake joins Community Choice Michigan as medical director
OKEMOS, Mich., Jan. 27, 2004 – CareSource Management Group is pleased to announce it has hired Dr. Paul M. Dake as medical director of Community Choice Michigan, a Medicaid managed health-care plan that has 56,000 members in 29 counties in Michigan. CareSource Management Group is administrator of CCM.
Dr. Dake comes to Community Choice Michigan with more than 20 years of experience in clinical medicine and managed care. He was a family physician in Saginaw, Mich., for 10 years before becoming medical director of the Samaritan Center, a counseling center for poor people with mental-health challenges in Michigan City, Ind. Dr. Dake has also been a medical director at the U.S.S. Family Medical Center in Gary, Ind.; Huron Valley Family Practice Center in Novi, Mich.; Oakwood Healthcare System in Dearborn, Mich.; Michigan Affiliated Providers Co. in Dearborn, Mich.; and Care Choices HMO in Farmington Hills, Mich.
“Paul brings a wealth of clinical and administrative experience to Community Choice Michigan,” said the plan’s CEO, Karl Kovacs. “He has dealt with managed care from the provider’s perspective for more than 20 years and rendered a broad range of services including obstetrics; care of newborns, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly; home visits; nursing home care; and end-of-life care. We are happy to have him as part of the CCM team.”
In his position as medical director at Community Choice Michigan, Dr. Dake oversees all aspects of medical and health services, including quality improvement, care management, and measurement and performance. He also reviews any cases in which preauthorization or treatment has been appealed to determine appropriate action. Finally, Dr. Dake represents CCM to physician providers, community agencies and state officials.
Dr. Dake is a licensed physician in Michigan, and is certified by the American Board of Family Practice and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review. He is a graduate of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and did his residency at Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals.
